29599 Anganwari Centres functional in JK : Asiea Naqash | KNO

JAMMU, JANUARY 03 (KNO) : Minister for Social Welfare Asiea Naqash today informed the Legislative Council that there are 29599 Anganwari centres operational in the state. Responding to a question raised by MLC Ashok Khajuria, the Minister said that the Anganwari Centres are run by 1366 Supervisors, 29599 Anganwari Workers and 29599 Anganwari helpers. She further informed that there is no adhoc or contractual post sanctioned for ICDS centre. She informed that the demand for increase of remuneration of Anganwari Workers and Helpers is under examination of the department. She said the government has already put in place a mechanism whereby 50 per cent posts of supervisors have been kept for regularization of AWWs as per the existing recruitment rules. Giving details, she said 25 percent selection is done through departmental selection/promotion Committee from amongst Anganwari workers who have rendered their services for atleast five years and 25 per cent is done by selection through Departmental Selection/Promotion Committee from amongst Matriculate Anganwari workers with atleast 10 years service. Inclusion of villages in RBA category The Minister further informed the House that the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Backward Classes is examining the representations of the villages for their inclusion in Reserved Backward Areas. Responding to a question raised by MLC Saif-Ud-Din Bhat, Ms Asiea Naqash informed that the demand for inclusion of villages including Shamsabad, Sail Lassipora, Churmujroo and CC Pora in RBA category is under process in consultation with the Commission. The Minister informed that the pleas of Dreygam, Kremshora, Parnewa, Falchal Kandoora, Danchan and Pharthan have been rejected owing to the non-fulfillment of required eligibility criteria prescribed for the purpose. However, she said the Commission has not received representations from Zanigam, Utterpora and Kanigund villages.(KNO)
